Dr. Sandeep Mittal,IPS-ADGP has led the Longest Sailing Expedition by a Civilian Police Force.
Chennai : Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru M. K. Stalin has received the certificate of World Book of Records of Coastal Security Group, Tamil Nadu Police, Chennai from Dr. Sandeep Mittal,IPS-ADGP for organizing a mass event as Longest Sailing Expedition by a Civilian Police Force in the World (540 NM) sailed out from Chennai to Rameswaram and back to Chennai from 09 to 17 July 2022 in three J80 Class Sail Boats. The event was graced by Dr. Irai Anbu, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu, Thiru Phanendra Reddy, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu, Home Department, Dr. C. Sylendra Babu, IPS, and Director General of Police and Head of the Police Force, Tamil Nadu Police. Significantly, the CSG organised the “Marine Sailing Expedition-2022” with the participation of 24 police personnel. The sailing expedition commenced on July 9 and sailed from Chennai to Rameswaram and returned to Chennai on July 17 covering 540 nautical miles. The objective of the expedition was to have a safe and secure coast, collect intelligence on discreet landing points if any; to interact with fisher folk and make them aware of the coastal security mechanism; and to give publicity about the CSG toll-free number 1093 to share any information about suspicious activity in and around the coastline. On being recognized by the World Book of Records, Dr. Sandeep Mittal, IPS-ADGP was congratulated by Mr. Wilhelm Jezler (Head of Europe, WBR), Barrister Santosh Shukla (CEO, (WBR) and other dignitaries of international scenario.
