London : World Book of Records has announced that Child Prodigy Miss Garudapalli Hansika of Hyderabad, Telangana, India has been included by the World Book of Records for reciting the names of 105 national parks of India within 03 minutes and 03 seconds on 29 November 2023 at the age of 07 years. The digital certificate was handed over to Miss Garudapalli Hansika by the World Book of Records. Significantly, National parks in India are International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) category II protected areas. India's first national park was established in 1936, now known as Jim Corbett National Park, in Uttarakhand. In 1970, India had only five national parks. In 1972, India enacted the Wildlife Protection Act and Project Tiger in 1973 to safeguard the habitats of conservation reliant species and currently there are 106 national parks in India. Further legislation strengthening protection for wildlife was introduced in the 1980s.On being recognized by the World Book of Records, Miss Garudapalli Hansika was congratulated by the Central Working Committee of the World Book of Records and other dignitaries from international scenario.
