Andaman & Nicobar Police Receives World Book of Records Certification

Sri Vijaya Puram - In a significant achievement, the Andaman & Nicobar Police has garnered international acclaim as three of its elite units—the South Andaman District Police, Police Marine Force (PMF) and the India Reserve Battalion (IRBn)—have been awarded the World Book of Records (WBR), London certification. This recognition underscores their dedication to public safety and exceptional law enforcement.

The India Reserve Battalion (IRBn) made history as the first battalion in India to receive ISO 9001:2015 certification, acknowledging its outstanding efforts in securing key installations, anti-poaching operations, and maintaining law enforcement standards across the islands. Additionally, the South Andaman District Police achieved a remarkable milestone with nine police stations, three Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), and the District Superintendent of Police’s offices all earning ISO 9001:2015 certification, reflecting their commitment to high-quality, citizen-focused policing. Further enhancing their credentials, the Police Marine Force (PMF) launched India’s first Mobile Forensic Boat, equipped with 14 basic crime scene kits, to improve crime investigations in remote areas, strengthening maritime security.

The solemn certification ceremony was held in the Conference Hall, Police Headquarters, Sri Vijaya Puram. Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and presented the World Book of Records certificates to the Unit heads. The prominent attendees of the function included Shri Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS, DGP, A&N Islands, Smti. Sindhu Pillai A, IPS, IGP, Shri Mohd. Irshad Haider, IPS, SP (HQ), Smt. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, SP (District), South Andaman, Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police (PMF)/Commandant, India Reserve Battalion and other officers which includes Shri Santosh Shukla, CEO of World Book of Records.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, congratulated the Andaman & Nicobar Police on their remarkable achievement stated that the dedication and professionalism displayed by these units have not only upheld the highest standards of public service but have also brought global recognition to the Islands and dedicated this proud moment for both the Police force and the Islanders. Further, Shri H.S Dhaliwal, IPS, DGP, commended the relentless efforts of the personnel of these units, stating, “This achievement reflects the unwavering commitment to serving the people with excellence and innovation.”  He also extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the personnel and particularly to the supervising officers – Smti. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, and Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS – whose leadership and dedication have been instrumental in achieving this success.
