Shri Amitabh Bachchan (Legendary Bollywood Superstar) appreciated the activities of World Book of Records

MUMBAI: Padma Bhushan Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan (India) has been felicitated by World Book of Records, London in Gold Edition for his inimitable contribution to Hindi Literacture and Poesy. On this occasion, Shri Amitabh Bachchan (Legendary Bollywood Superstar) has appreciated the activities of World Book of Records. This was informed by Shri Santosh Shukla, Supreme Court, Advocate (President, World Book of Records). Significantly, Padma Bhushan Harivansh Rai Bachchan was an Indian poet of the Nayi Kavita literary movement (romantic upsurge) of early 20th century Hindi literature. From 1941 to 1957, he taught in the English Department at the Allahabad University and after that he spent the next two years at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, Cambridge University completing a PhD on W.B. Yeats, He was also a poet of the Hindi Kavi Sammelan. He is best known for his early work Madhushala. He was fluent in several Hindustani dialects (Awadhi, Hindi, Urdu) as well as Persian. He incorporated a broadly Hindi-Urdu vocabulary, written in Hindi script. While he could not read Persian script, he was influenced by Persian and Urdu poetry, particularly Omar Khayyam.
