Dr. Sreedharan Sobhana from Bangalore gets included by World Book of Records

Dr. Sobhana has worn the same pageant dress in two different fashion events, two different countries, and winning the title of both the events on 22 December 1990 in Singapore and 21 December 2019 in India at the age of 63 years.

When it comes to learning, age is no bar. When it comes to teaching, age is no bar. When it comes to working, age is no bar, but when it comes to fashion industry, age looks like a bar, indeed the huge one. But Dr. Sobhana's legendary saga has broken the barriers and has busted all the social/typical stereotypes of age being the bar in fashion and modelling too. Dr. Sobhana had been the first runner up at the fashion event organized by Baxter Healthcare Pvt Ltd, Dinner & Dance in Singapore in 1990. Call it a co-incidence or the Universal Conspiracy of her success that after almost 30 years, she has won the crown of Mrs. India Fashion Icon Classic-2019 in the same dress which she wore before 30 years. Dr. Sobhana's story vouch proofs the fact that age is not just a number, but also it is just a perception of mind. The real age cannot be quantified but can always be qualified by adding various feathers to your cap of glory. Dr. Sobhana's life is no less than the Kurukshetra played on the chessboard of life, where she has played multiple roles as a wife, a mother, ambitious lady and Spiritual Master of many, and has never failed in her efforts. Born in 1957 in Singapore, Dr. Sobhana's charitable nature has woven her story with the golden thread of genuine and long lasting fame; something which will remain as footprints to follow.

Her story bespoke hope and courage and she is the perfect epitome of defying age with willpower. In 1989, her daughter was born with brain damage due to negligence of doctors at the time of delivery. She came to India in 1995 for her daughter’s treatment and decided to stay in India to serve the people. In 2007, she established Sri Dharma Bodhi Temple in Bangalore. She is the first woman to build the Buddhist temple in Bangalore.

Dr.Sobhana has a philanthropic approach to Buddhism and while offering prayers for flood & rape victims, chanting, spiritual counsel, donating free Dharma books, free food offerings, free medical/dental clinic days, detoxification camps, sports day, music, art, sky watching, cultural dance, hair trimming for children, aromatherapy/massage for special needs children, donations to children in orphanages, the celebration of Buddhist holidays, Independence day, and Lantern moon/cake festival.

She has also bagged many awards like 'Lifetime Achievement Award' and Honorary Doctorate in 'Spirituality-Buddhism' by Indian Virtual Academy for Peace & Education, Mother Teresa Stree Ratna National Award and South India Women Achievers Award. She is the first South Indian Woman to receive “Outstanding Woman in Buddhism” Award, an International Award in Thailand on March 8th 2019 and also she was presented with 'Seva Ratna' title by G.H.Ramachandra, President of Sri Rajarajeshwari Sports and Cultural Association on 13th January 2020.
