Dr. Jawahar Israni From Delhi Gets Included in World Book Of Records, London

Dr. Jawahar is known for his unique passion of having the largest collection of postage stamps (52,000 stamps) from more than 240 countries. It is said that if you want to lock memories, click photos and if you want to lock time, have a passion strong enough to surpass any odds thrown at you by the time.  Since collecting postage stamps not just includes passion, but it is also a way to capture time through these seemingly piece of papers. Dr. Jawahar Israni's story is the exact resemblance of such different patriotism where he has been collecting postage stamps since his childhood and now owns a proud collection of more than 52,000 postage stamps which range from more than 240 countries. World Book Of Records, London proudly includes him in its India edition-2021. This information was shared by Mr. Santosh Shukla- President, WBR. Having his roots in Pakistan and then shifting to Delhi, Dr. Jawahar had the minimalist lifestyle since the start, and yet he made the best of it. With limited available resources, he was able to maintain his passion of collecting postage stamps. While he completed his basic education from a government school, he never gets tired of admiring his guru due to whom he has discovered his passion. He still remembers the time when he was in class 5 and when his teacher Dr. Motilal Jotwani emphasied that every child should have a passion in life. It was the beginning of his never ending passion of collecting stamps or we can call it a self discovery journey. Initially his collection included stamps from the nearby embassy in Delhi and also he collected from his letters he got at his home. Gradually with time, when his friends and relatives came to know about his dedicated and unfathomable passion, they began helping him. When he reached his college, his network increased and with that his fame also scaled up. That was when people came forward and volunteered their best to help him by providing whatever kind of stamps they could get their hands on. With such indomitable passion, he has proved that talent is not a charm limited by any age. He reveals that his passion also entered his work place and people came forward to help him. Now a 78 years old retired mechanical engineer, Dr. Israni still has not put a full stop to his passion of postage stamps collection. Despite this being a very costly hobby, Dr. Israni has always exhibited his collection to college and school students and also to office people by holding various free of cost exhibitions. His mission and vision is to inspire people to have a hobby or passion for life, which makes life worthwhile. According to him, due to his passion, he never felt lonely even in the dark times of pandemic. He kept on storing those stamps in a normal one sided pages instead of going for fancy stamp books. He also records and writes the essential information about every stamp beneath it for people. When being asked about the utility of having such hobby, he preferred silence and kept on focusing on his work as he considers his hobby as worship and worship cannot be measured materialistically. Dr. Isani has exhibited his collection on various ocassions like Beti Bachao, Pani Bachao, Bijli bachao, trees and road safety etc. He is also felicitated with numerous awards like Global Achievers' awards and many more. He also is listed in '100 inspiring Indians'. After his guru, he is immensely thankful for his wife Mrs. Maya Israni, who supported him bigtime in cultivating his passion and also used to get him postage stamps as and whenever she could.
