Ms. Anila Kothari celebrated its 27th Foundation Day with free cancer screenings for over 20,851 individuals
On the momentous occasion of its 27th Foundation Day, Bhagawan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (BMCHRC) took a significant step forward in the fight against cancer by organizing an extraordinary campaign, “Cancer Jaanch Aapke Dwar” (Cancer Checkup at Your Doorstep). Under the visionary leadership of Ms. Anila Kothari, the campaign has been recognized for its incredible success, providing free cancer screenings for over 20,851 individuals across Rajasthan and Haryana, marking a milestone in healthcare outreach. Cancer is a pressing health issue, and early detection can make the difference between life and death. Recognizing this, BMCHRC initiated the “Cancer Jaanch Aapke Dwar” campaign with the goal of bringing essential cancer screening services to the doorsteps of people who may otherwise lack access to timely diagnosis and healthcare facilities. Ms. Anila Kothari, a key figure in BMCHRC’s leadership, spearheaded the initiative with a focus on ensuring that people in rural and underserved areas could benefit from early cancer detection, particularly for breast and uterine cancers, which are prevalent among women in these regions. The campaign, which began in January 2023, has since grown into a significant movement for cancer awareness and prevention. By conducting mobile cancer screening camps across various regions of Rajasthan and Haryana, BMCHRC has been able to extend its reach to thousands of individuals, offering free and potentially life-saving cancer checkups.
A key highlight of the event was the recognition the campaign received from the World Book of Records for its exceptional achievement in cancer screening. During the event, World Book of Records presented a certificate of recognition for the “Cancer Jaanch Aapke Dwar” campaign. The honour was handed over to Chief Guest, Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar, and Special Guest, Principal Secretary of Medical, Health, and Family Welfare, Gayatri Rathore. Both dignitaries praised the hospital’s initiative for bringing cancer screening directly to the people, particularly in remote areas where healthcare access is limited. In his address, Health Minister Khinvsar lauded the campaign’s efforts in promoting early detection of cancer, stressing that early intervention is crucial for saving lives. He emphasized the need for more such initiatives to encourage women to undergo screenings for breast and uterine cancers, which are often detected at later stages, making treatment more difficult. Gayatri Rathore echoed the minister’s sentiments, praising BMCHRC’s innovative approach to healthcare outreach. She particularly highlighted the mobile cancer screening units, which are equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including mammography, X-ray, and blood test facilities, all provided free of charge. She expressed pride in the hospital’s contributions to public health and its dedication to serving the community through such campaigns.
BMCHRC Chairman Navratan Kothari shared details of the campaign’s impressive outreach. Since its inception, the “Cancer Jaanch Aapke Dwar” campaign has conducted 215 camps from January 2023 to October 2024. These camps have screened over 20,851 individuals for various types of cancer, a number that continues to grow as the hospital expands its efforts. Kothari reiterated BMCHRC’s commitment to making cancer care accessible to all, regardless of geographical location or financial constraints. The 27th Foundation Day also saw the launch of a second mobile cancer screening unit, further expanding the campaign’s capacity to reach more people in need. The new unit, like the existing one, is fully equipped with advanced cancer diagnostic tools, allowing for efficient and accurate screenings on the go. Plans are already underway to expand the campaign to cover a larger geographical area, ensuring that more people can benefit from early detection and timely treatment. The “Cancer Jaanch Aapke Dwar” campaign is a shining example of how healthcare can be brought to the people, making a real difference in their lives and empowering them to take control of their health. With the continued support of the community and the tireless efforts of its dedicated team, BMCHRC is setting a benchmark in healthcare outreach and cancer prevention.
