With 42 years of government service and 54 years of community service
A remarkable example of unwavering dedication and integrity, Anjani Kishore Puppala began his journey on 20 November 1969 with the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC). Over the next 42 years, until his retirement on 31 August 2011, he served with exceptional sincerity. The years between 1975 and 1999 were especially challenging due to extremely low wages, yet he never compromised his ethics. To support his family, he took up part-time tuitions, cycling from house to house each morning and evening, while fulfilling his office duties with perfect punctuality working nearly 18 hours a day. His bicycle became his “aeroplane,” carrying him through years of disciplined struggle.
Alongside his service, he played a major role in employee welfare, holding several honorary leadership positions including Regional Secretary General and President of the All India CWC Employees Unions Front, and long tenures as General Secretary and President of the CWC Employees Union (AP & Telangana). He also served as Secretary of the CWC Employees Cooperative Housing Society and the Vanasthali Hills Residents Welfare Association. As a Defence Counsel, he successfully handled seven departmental inquiries. His creative side flourished with plays broadcast on All India Radio (1983–86), and he earned a Certificate of Merit in the Godrej National Speed Typing Championship (1987).
Tragedy struck when his eldest son passed away in an accident in Bhopal, after which he shifted to Hyderabad in 1989. He continued serving selflessly, declining promotions to stay close to his family and union responsibilities. His civic contributions transformed Hyderabad’s Vanasthali Hills Colony, where an archway now stands in his honour.Disciplined, spiritual, a teetotaller and regular donor to ISKCON, he believes that while wealth fades, good deeds endure. Even at 75, he continues to work tirelessly as Honorary Advisor and Vice President of community associations. With 42 years of government service and 54 years of community service, his life remains an inspiring testament to humility, resilience, and leadership.
