Department of School Education, Rajasthan Achieves World Book of Records Recognition for Planting 17 Lakh RET Plants

The Department of School Education, Rajasthan has been honored with a prestigious World Book of Records UK certification for an extraordinary green initiative. On the occasion of Hariyali Teej, the department, in collaboration with Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, Hariyalo Rajasthan Abhiyan, and Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE, coordinated the plantation of 17,04,399 saplings of five Rare, Endangered, and Threatened (RET) plant species across the state.

The plantation drive, involving 67,109 schools, focused on ecologically significant and culturally revered species such as Khejri, Khara Pilu, Meetha Pilu, Rohida, and Phog. This large-scale effort reflects Rajasthan’s commitment to environmental sustainability, biodiversity preservation, and youth participation in ecological conservation.
The World Book of Records certificate was presented to Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Prerchand Bairwa by WBR Chartered Officer Pratham Bhalla, in the esteemed presence of Sr. IAS K. K. Pathak, IAS Krishna Kunal (Secretary, Department of School Education), and IAS Anupama Jorwal (SPD, School Education).

On this occasion, Deputy CM Dr. Prerchand Bairwa lauded the contribution of lakhs of students and teachers, emphasizing that such initiatives not only safeguard the environment but also instill a strong sense of eco-consciousness among future generations. He also highlighted the pivotal leadership of the Department of School Education under the guidance of Secretary IAS Krishna Kunal, who played a central role in successfully implementing this historic initiative.
This milestone highlights Rajasthan’s leadership in environmental stewardship and sets a global benchmark for community-driven ecological conservation.
