Km. • Cook Islands have a total population of 17,379 with its capital as Avarua. • Kevin Cook the founder of Cook’s Island Bus Passenger Transport Ltd, was recognized for his contribution to tourism. • In 1989, he set up the bus company known then as Cooks’ Corner Buses, using a 15-seater van. • Kevin realized a need for a good public transport system on Rarotonga and with the help of Steve Anderson, he bought another vehicle, a 14-seater Mazda van. • The bus service had become quite popular and it showed him that he should go to a bigger bus, so in 1989-90 we bought the 25-seater bus from Kiikii Motel”. • Soon they introduced the Clockwise and Anti-Clockwise schedule to offer more choice and frequency which became very popular with the tourists • Thirty years down the line, the company’s yellow buses are a familiar sight on the island’s main road and the business is thriving.
