Asia is the world's largest continent of the seven continents in size and population. Continently, Asia contains 51 countries and shares 59.54 population of the world. One of the first classical writers to use Asia as the name of the whole continent was Pliny- Gaius Plinius Secundus -called Pliny the Elder was a Roman author, a naturalist and natural philosopher, a naval and army commander of the early Roman Empire, and a friend of Emperor Vespasian. He wrote the encyclopedic Naturalis Historia (Natural History), which became an editorial model for encyclopedias.
The continent is home to the 10 highest peaks in the world. Interestingly, Asia saw the birth of two great ancient civilizations - Harappan civilization and Chinese civilization.
